Roller Coasters!

This week in class we are making roller coasters! The only catch is that they have to be made out of toilet paper tubes. Also, we have to label them. Lastly, we can't make them death traps. Our roller coaster has a jump. It also has a tall hill. Also, it goes through a funnel bottle. One piece about this is that there is a roller coaster in Germany from The Auto & Technik Museum Sinsheim. Also, there is a roller coaster in Blue Diamond Park in the U.S.A.! This is what I learned in class.

Earthquake!

On Monday an earthquake happened! But, it was closer than you would expect. It turns out that it happened right here in New Jersey! Some people thought it was a bomb while others thought it was a thud. The earthquake luckily, was a 3.0 and did not do much damage. However that is still pretty big for this area. Also no one was injured. I think that this was very lucky event for the people of northern New Jersey. I also think that people should learn to watch out for earthquakes more. In conclusion, this article was interesting.

Inauguration Day!!!

Barack Obama had a historical inauguration. It is just amazing that one man could attract so much attention in one day. This might have been one of the best inaugurations ever but now I am going to get the real story. This might help you get a better understanding on Mr. Obama and his inauguration.
My first article I chose was about the song put on for Mr. Obama. Now there might have been some famous people performing the song like Yo-Yo Ma but that did not stop them from "instrument sinking." Yes you heard me, they were faking. You might think that that is just sad that they were faking, but it was because pitch, tone, and intonation are all things that be affected by cold weather. So in the end they just didn't want to ruin the special event. So don't be to hard on the instrumentalists.

Now my second article is on the inauguration in general. Now as you know Mr. Obama is an African American and the first one to be president. So you can expect that this was pretty big. In the inauguration speech Barack told people how we should be enviormentally friendly. He also said that he did not support the war in Iraq and was planning on taking troops out immediately. Lastly he said that "A man whose father might have not been served at a lunch counter sixty years ago can now make a sacred speech. That was a very powerful line to a very powerful speech. This was a good speech for a good man.

So that's the inside news on this historical inauguration. You learned about a song and a powerful speech. This was truly a great innauguration. I hope it will be good 100 days for Mr. Obama. So I wish Mr. Obama good luck in the next four years and I hape he does well.

Trouble in Antarctica

In Antarctica global warming is starting to take its tole. The global warming is mainly happening in the southern tip. This can be dangerous because this could flood the world. That means that we should keep our oceans clean. They also said that this has been happening over a 50 year period. Also in the 1970's temperatures actually got colder there. This is what the article about Antarctica was about.http://www.nytimes.com/2009/01/22/science/earth/22climate.html?ref=science

Bees get Cocaine

Bees are very much like humans. For instance, in Australia scientists put Cocaine on a bee. The bee, like humans lost judgment. It also got excited about odd things. This meant that bees are like humans in many ways. They also dance sometimes, but not often. This is what the article about bees was about.http://www.nytimes.com/2009/01/06/science/06bees.html?ref=science
